Getting Ready For State Board.

Hey guys, I haven't been here in a while. School has been going crazy nuts! I've been practicing for state board and it's really, really hard. Especially if your doing it on a real person and not a doll head.

If your thinking of going to cosmetology school, well hun heads up, it's not going to be easy as you though you were. For the main test, you will have to do this state board head in 35 minutes. If you don't finish, you fail. Period.

There are four sections that you have to do in that amount of time. The perm rods, curl rods ( have to be 4 ), finger waves and those curl things on the other side, I forgot the name.

And there are a lot of materials that you have to buy for state board. Everything has to be labeled, and taped over so that nothing spills. Get extra of everything so that if you drop a styling comb, you can't pick it up and use it. Get a lot of those! You'll need them all!

Introduction to my blog.

Have you ever seen a run way show? Or a photo in a magazine and wondered what lip gloss or what lipstick they used on her? Wonder why you even wondered why? What made you see the lip gloss? Cosmetologists, hair stylists, beauticians, photographers and other experts in the beauty area are responsible for making you notice the beauty of the lip gloss. I am one of those people that helps you during the day to choose what lip gloss you will wear today, the next day and maybe for the rest of your life. Well, not the rest of your life because looks do change and so does the lip gloss.

But that is another topic. I am a cosmetology student with a wish to graduate and get my license. What is cosmetology? Cosmetology is a term used to encompass a broad range of specialty areas, including hairstyling, nail technology, and aesthetics. Did you know that beauty has been practiced since as early as Egyptian time? The Egyptians were the first to actually cultivate beauty in an extravagant fashion, and to use cosmetics as part of their personal beautification habits religious ceremonies, and preparing the deceased for burial. Chinese used cosmetics as early as 1600 B.C. Their technique's weren't the best but they did use natural elements such as a tinted mixture of gum Arabic gelatin, beeswax and egg whites onto their nails to turn them crimson or ebony.

The Greeks were introduced in 500 B.C. Hairstyling was practiced greatly in this time era. The ancient Greeks introduced lavish perfumes and cosmetics in their religious rites, in grooming, and for medicinal purposes. The Romans used natural elements for facials such as corn, flour, and milk. Or flour and fresh butter. And so on from Middle Ages of 476 A.D (The Romans). The Renaissance age where the Western civilization made the transition from medieval to modern history. There was also a Victorian Age of England between 1837 and 1901. And the 20th century. Till present time.

Now that you know a little bit of history which is important that you do, I can now tell you of how much beauty evolved and what are the careers in cosmetology. I will be licensed in, hair color specialist, texture specialist, cutting specialist, and in the future maybe salon trainer, distributor sales consultant, and or cosmetology instructor. Thanks for reading my blog and hopefully you can stick around and be my customer some day! "Make the world beautiful!"
